Within the medical faculty and across the Göttingen Research Campus, the department of medical statistics offers consulting and training in the areas of biometrical and bioinformatics analysis of clinical and molecular data. Additionally, the department is actively conducting research with focus on adaptive designs of clinical trials, evidence synthesis and statistical analysis of high-dimensional data.
In addition to the consulting and training of scientists and students of the medical faculty within the core facility 'Medical Biometry and Statistical Bioinformatics' participation in third-party-funded projects and multi-disciplinary consortia plays a major role in the activities of the department.
The group on Statistical Bioinformatics (Head: Prof. Dr. Tim Beissbarth) works closely with clinical and biological researchers and in this context frequently has topics for medical dissertations. The group is closely associated with the DFG-funded Clinical Research Group for rectal cancer (KFO179), with the DFG-funded research group on the WNT-signaling (FOR942) and leads interdisciplinary projects for Medical Systems Biology of breast cancer (BreastSys) and metastasis formation (Metasta-Sys).
The candidate will work as part of this team using computer-aided methodology on these research topics. Programming experience is desired. Supervision concerning aspects of medical science is provided by Dr. A. Bleckmann. Please send your application requests to Tim.Beissbarth@med.uni-goettingen.de or firstname.lastname@example.org.
